Sustainability at Half Acre focuses on practical systems that support real-world property operations.
Instead of theoretical approaches, we are installing and testing energy systems, food production systems, and waste reduction systems that can realistically support a small property and working businesses.

  • Solar power systems
  • Wind turbine installation
  • Backup generator systems
  • Property lighting systems
  • greenhouse growing
  • aquaponics systems
  • chickens and small livestock
  • seasonal garden production
  • composting food waste from the restaurant
  • soil building systems
  • reuse of organic materials across the property

The property includes a 20′ x 30′ greenhouse designed and built on-site.
The greenhouse previously supported a multi-tank aquaponics system raising tilapia while circulating nutrient-rich water to growing beds. The system is currently being rebuilt as a smaller experimental food production system supporting both the property and future restaurant ingredients.

A big part of this project involves adapting and restoring existing buildings instead of starting from scratch.
That approach preserves character, reduces waste, and allows us to build something meaningful out of structures that already belong to the story of this property.

Crow Hollow Wood Craft emphasizes the use of reclaimed, repurposed, and sustainably sourced materials whenever practical.
That includes wood with local character, such as reclaimed wine-barrel material and other pieces that deserve a second life.

Building on a compact property means every decision matters.
We’re constantly thinking about how to use space well, reduce unnecessary waste, and design systems that serve more than one purpose whenever possible.

We’re interested in sustainability that actually works over time — systems that reduce maintenance, support efficiency, and make daily operations more manageable for a small business and working property.
